Everything about how we teach flows from one conviction: children learn best when they are genuinely known by their teacher. When a teacher knows where a child is confident and where they struggle, what motivates them and what holds them back, teaching stops being a broadcast and becomes a relationship.
That kind of relationship is impossible in a class of thirty. It's the first casualty of large-class teaching and, sadly, of most online learning, which too often means a child watching a video alone or lost in a crowded virtual room.
We built BRS to make that relationship the centre of everything. Small groups, live lessons, qualified teachers and consistent contact mean every child is seen, understood and taught as an individual, not processed as one of many.
Every lesson is live and real
This is the most important thing to understand about BRS, and what sets us apart from most “online schools.”
We do not sell recorded videos. We do not leave children to work through modules alone. Every single lesson at BRS is taught live, in real time, by a teacher who is present with your child, responding to their questions, watching for confusion, and adapting as the lesson unfolds.
Why we cap every class at fifteen
If live teaching is the foundation, small classes are what make it powerful. Every class at BRS is capped at 15 students, half the size of a typical classroom, and this is the single biggest reason our teaching works.
In a small group, your child cannot drift unnoticed. The teacher knows them, calls on them and tracks their progress individually. Questions are welcomed rather than feared. Every child is an active participant in every lesson, not a passive face in a crowd.
A small class also strikes a balance a crowded classroom can't. Children learn alongside peers, so they see others wrestle with the same challenges, learn from each other's questions, and stay motivated by a sense of shared progress. It's genuine individual attention with the energy of a real classroom.
Proper structure, proper standards
Good teaching needs good structure. Our lessons follow the British National Curriculum across Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3, a clear, progressive framework that ensures children build knowledge systematically and meet recognised standards at every stage.
This structure gives families confidence that their child isn't just being kept busy, but is genuinely progressing through a coherent education, with each year building on the last, and each stage preparing for the next.

Faith shapes the how, not just the what
Our Islamic ethos isn't confined to Islamic Studies lessons. It shapes the manner in which everything is taught.
It's in the adab between teacher and student: the patience, respect and care our teachers bring to every interaction. It's in the calm, purposeful atmosphere of our lessons. It's in the values modelled and the examples chosen. Children learn in an environment where their faith is the natural backdrop to their education, not something set aside at the start of a lesson and picked up again at the end.
This is what we mean when we say faith is woven throughout: it’s present in how we teach every subject, every day.
Taught by educators, not algorithms
The quality of teaching depends entirely on the teacher. Every BRS teacher is qualified, experienced and chosen for subject knowledge, teaching ability and alignment with our ethos.
As children move up through the key stages, they're taught by subject specialists with genuine expertise, which is essential when the subjects deepen at KS2 and KS3. And because our groups are small and consistent, your child's teacher truly knows them: their strengths, their gaps and how best to help them progress.
You'll always know how your child is doing
Teaching doesn't end when a lesson does. We track each child's progress individually and keep parents genuinely informed through termly progress reports and ongoing communication.
You won't be left guessing. You'll know what your child is learning, how they're progressing and where they need support, because we believe parents are partners in their child's education, not spectators. And because our teachers know your child personally, the feedback you receive is specific and meaningful, not generic.

Picture a typical BRS lesson. A small group of children join live at a set time. Their teacher, who knows each of them by name, greets them and begins. The lesson is structured and follows the curriculum, but it's responsive: the teacher notices when something hasn't landed and explains it differently, draws out a quiet child and stretches one who's ready for more.
The atmosphere is calm and respectful. Questions are encouraged. Every child contributes. And throughout, the values of an Islamic education are simply part of how things are done.
