The Case For It

Faith deserves more than a box on a timetable

An open Quran with prayer beads resting on a wooden stand
Grounded knowledge. Genuine conviction.

For many children, Islamic Studies is whatever fits in the gaps: a rushed lesson here, a YouTube video there or a weekly class that covers the same ground every year without real progression.

A child who grows up without a structured Islamic education often reaches their teenage years with a fragmented understanding of their deen: knowing isolated facts but lacking the grounded, coherent knowledge that builds real conviction and confidence in their faith.

Our Islamic Studies programme changes that. It's structured, progressive and taught by a qualified teacher who takes the subject seriously: covering the foundational knowledge every Muslim child deserves, at a level appropriate to their age, in a calm and purposeful small group environment.

And because it's entirely standalone, it works alongside any schooling: mainstream school, home education or our own BRS programmes.

The Curriculum

The foundations every Muslim child needs

Our Islamic Studies programme covers the core areas of Islamic knowledge in a structured, age-appropriate way: building from the foundations upward, with each topic revisited in greater depth as children grow.

01

Aqeedah (Islamic Belief)

The foundations of correct Islamic belief: who Allah is, the pillars of faith and the core theological concepts every Muslim child should understand clearly and confidently. Taught in a way that builds genuine conviction, not just memorised answers.

02

Seerah (Prophetic Biography)

The life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught with depth and love: not just dates and events, but the lessons, the character and the wisdom that make the Seerah one of the most powerful sources of guidance a Muslim can draw on.

03

Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence)

Practical Islamic rulings relevant to a child's daily life: covering worship, purity, prayer and the essential fiqh a Muslim child needs to practise their deen correctly as they grow up.

04

Adab & Islamic Manners

The Islamic manners and etiquette that shape a child's character: how to speak, behave, treat others and carry themselves as a Muslim, grounded in the Quran and Sunnah.

Is This Right For Your Child?

For children at every stage, in any schooling situation

Children in mainstream school

Your child spends most of their week in a secular environment with little or no Islamic content. Our Islamic Studies programme gives them structured, quality deen education outside of school hours: filling the gap mainstream schooling leaves.

Home-educated children

You home-educate and want Islamic Studies taught properly by a qualified teacher, rather than trying to cover it all yourself. Our programme provides that: structured, progressive and delivered by someone with the knowledge to do it justice.

Children already at BRS

Islamic Studies is part of the BRS school timetable, but families who want additional dedicated Islamic Studies sessions, going deeper than the school curriculum, can add standalone sessions on top.

Children with gaps in their Islamic knowledge

Your child has grown up with fragmented deen education and you want to give them a solid, structured foundation. Our programme starts from the foundations and builds properly, regardless of age.

The Approach

Authentic, structured and taught with care

Islamic Studies at BRS is taught by Abu Esa (Hakim Muwakil Al Amriki): a student of the renowned scholar Sheikh Muqbil ibn Hadi al-Wadi'i رحمه الله, with almost a decade in religious studies and the author of a book in Sarf. His teaching is grounded in authentic classical scholarship, delivered with the patience and care that children deserve.

Lessons are live, 50-minute small group sessions, never pre-recorded. The small group format means children can ask questions, engage with the material and receive direct feedback from their teacher in every session. Islamic knowledge is not something to absorb passively; it requires discussion, questions and a teacher who can respond.
